The Body Shop Drops Of Light Healthy Brightening Serum review:
Today I am back with the review of newly launched The Body Shop Drops Of Light Healthy Brightening Serum. The Body Shop recently launched a new line called The Drops of Light. It contains a face wash named DROPS OF LIGHT BRIGHTENING CLEANSING FOAM and moisturizing cream called DROPS OF LIGHT BRIGHTENING DAY CREAM along with the serum. The brand claims that the brightening serum would replenish moisture and illuminate the skin while making it feeling supple and hydrated. After 4 weeks skin will be brighter, looks healthier, more even toned and clarified. Clinical evaluations of 56 Asian women showed reduction of number & intensity of dark spots. I was enthralled when the SA at The Body Shop counter showed me the line and described the benefits. My biggest concern is the acne marks and open pores like any other woman having excessive oily skin. There are lots of cosmetics out in the market promising to make dark spots and hyperpigmentation go away but I am generally scared to use them because they contain ingredients (like hydroquinone or grape seed extract) which make skin excessively sensitive to sun exposure. But when I didn’t find those compounds in the list of ingredients of the Body Shop Drops Of Light Healthy Brightening Serum I decided to give it a chance. And I was soooo right to do that.

The Body Shop Drops Of Light Healthy Brightening Serum comes in a tiny white bottle and a dropper. The overall packaging is fuss free and very convenient to use.
The texture of the brightening serum is watery and runny. It is extremely lightweight and get absorbed into the skin within seconds. After application my skin feels a little dewy and hydrated but not greasy and heavy. Initially I was applying the serum in the morning before applying sunscreen but now for the last couple of weeks I am using it only before going to bed without any other product. Generally I wake up with a greasy face in the morning and sometimes moisturizing products applied before bed make the condition worse. Surprisingly the brightening serum hasn’t stirred up extra oil production but added the perfect amount of moisturization. The serum has a very mild pleasant smell. It lingers for some time after application. The scent is not overpowering and I don’t think it will even bother people with sensitive nose.
I am using the Drops Of Light Serum for over 4 weeks and I can see the adamant acne marks (not acne scars; yes there is a huge difference!!!) faded significantly which were there for the last couple of months. I am very prone to pigmentation and my acne marks take almost 4 to 6 months to disappear naturally. I can see the brightening serum has accelerated the process. As it contains Vitamin C in the form of 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid at the top of the ingredient list I suppose the fair concentration is effectively inhibiting melanin production in the skin cells and also boosting the collagen production leading to healthy looking skin. The red algea extract (Palmaria Palmata Extract) has been scientifically proved to naturally inhibit the function of an enzyme called tyrosinase which catalyze pigment production in the skin cells.
