Today I am reviewing the Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact in the shade Golden Medium which will suite warm toned medium complexion ladies like me (I am NC 35 according to MAC). I have extremely oily skin with big pores around my nose and on cheeks which becomes oil slick every 2-3 hours during summer and the humid months. So naturally I am always in a lookout for good matte compact powder which will also not clog pores (non comedogenic). I have used the Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse and was too impressed by the oil controlling capability and the staying power. Although the SA at Lakme counter advised me to not use any compact with the mousse foundation but I decided to buy the Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact for using alone or with some other not so matte foundation.
Price: Rs. 700/- (available on Amazon)
The Lakme Absolute Wet and Dry Compact comes in a sleek metallic grey case with two compartments and a mirror. The case holds a sponge applicator in the lower compartment which is for applying the compact as “wet” but not at all useful for “dry” application. The case is sturdy and travel friendly and the mirror works pretty well for touch ups.
The texture of the compact powder is soft and silky. It comes out easily on the powder brush while swept lightly on the surface and blends on the skin effortlessly. The powder is not very tightly pressed like the L’Oreal Mat Magique Transforming Powder and get scattered on the pan upon swiping with brush. After blending the compact on the skin with powder brush I felt that this compact does not seat very deep in the skin like the L’Oreal Mat Magique Transforming Powder. It is even looser than the Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder. So on dry skin or un-moisturized and rough skin the Absolute Wet and Dry Compact may look a little cakey. The powder will settle in the fine lines around mouth and eyes if applied in excess amount. Applying the compact with a wet sponge have not given a great result. The coverage was a little more in that case but the finishing was cakey and uneven.
Lakme Absolute Compact Golden medium gives a sheer coverage and some whiteness to my yellow toned skin. I have applied it over the Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse and my skin looked cakey and too much made up. When I applied it over a sheer foundation like Lakme Invisible Finish Foundation it looks close to natural. I generally apply it on Lotus Herbals 3-In-1 Matte-Look Daily Sun Block (with or without moisturizer depending upon the climate) on my good skin days to get the perfect “no makeup look” with a polished glow. The compact is said to have SPF 20 but it does not look ashy under camera flash.
The staying power depends upon which climactic condition you are in. If you are under sun and your face is sweating then the powder will come out everytime you pat your face with tissue or hanky. It does not melt on skin or create patches for good. The compact powder cannot keep skin matte for more than 2-3 hours in a non-AC room and 3-4 hours in AC room. Another blotting with tissue and touch up keeps the skin matte for another 2-3 hours.
The shade selection of Lakme absolute range is good; at least for the Absolute mousse and the Absolute Compact. There are 6 shades of the compact available right now.
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Rose fair: For light skin with cool pink undertone
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Ivory fair: it will suite very light skin with neutral or little warm undertone
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Golden Light: From the swatch comparison under the artificial light at the counter it looks like this shade is for medium complexion ladies like me but with cool and neutral undertone.
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Golden medium: For warm medium complexion.
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Beige Honey: will suite medium to dark complexion with pink undertone.
Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Almond Honey: is for medium to dark complexion with warm undertone.
Sadly there is no shade for beauties with bronze or chocolate complexion.

- It does not have any shimmer and does not look ashy under flash lighting.

Cons of Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact:
- Expensive considering the price and quality.

- Wet application results in cakey and uneven finishing.
There are better and cheaper options available in the market and that too from reputed brands. Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact is not bad but does not do justice to the price tag. If you are blessed with a good skin and usually skip makeup but like to keep expensive good looking makeup products in your vanity then you can get a hold of this beauty. This compact actually is good to get a “no makeup look” within five minutes.
