Review of Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50
Hello friends, today I am reviewing the Lotus Herbals UV Screen Gel Matte sunscreen with SPF 50. I am a die hard fan of the 3-In-1 Matte-Look Daily Sun Block Spf-40 from Lotus herbals. I am troubled with extremely oily skin and the 3 in 1 matte sunscreen works just perfectly on my skin during hot summer months without clogging the pores or breaking me out. However there is a tiny problem with this sunscreen; it is tinted. The foundation like tint transfers to clothes when my face and neck sweats excessively. While using high coverage foundation during daytime I like to skip the tinted part of the sunscreen. So when I came across the Gel Matte sunscreen I could not resist myself from getting it. I was expecting better oil control than the 3 in 1 matte sunscreen as this one has a gel formulation.
Price: Rs. 295/- for 50 gm (available on Amazon)
The sunscreen comes in a bright sunny orange color tube much like the 3 in 1 matte sunscreen. The tube has a flip cap. Overall packaging is travel friendly, sleek and pretty.
Texture and formula:
The sunscreen comes in a water based transparent gel like texture with no greasiness at all. Upon blending the gel instantly sinks in the skin without leaving any dewiness or making the skin look shiny. In spite of being completely oil free the formula spreads on the skin evenly. The texture is great for oily skin ladies like me. I feel no necessity of applying any moisturizer after this sunscreen but girls with dry skin must apply a moisturizer if in any circumstances they need to use this sunscreen. It acts great as a matte makeup base.
Oil control and staying power:
Unfortunately this sunscreen cannot control oil secretion and keep skin matte longer than the 3-In-1 Matte Sunscreen. My T zone turns oily after 1-2 hours if I am not in an AC room. The formula is neither waterproof nor sweat proof. The staying power is lower than the 3-in-1 matte sunscreen so rate of reapplication becomes more frequent here.
I would not tell that this sunscreen is able to keep me completely tan free but it can prevent at least 70% of the tan. But as the lasting capacity is low reapplication is necessary for better tan prevention if you stay outdoor for a prolonged time.
Pros of the Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50:
- Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50 is a water based gel matte sunscreen designed for oily skin.
- This sunscreen offers both UVA and UVB protection.
- The gel formula does not make the skin shiny and stretched out.
- It sinks into the skin instantly and spreads evenly.
- It blends with the skin and does not leave any white cast.
- The sunscreen does not make the skin look ashy under camera flash.
- It works great as a matte makeup base.
- The formula prevents tanning efficiently.
- It does not contain any strong smell.
Cons of the Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50:
- The formula contains paraben as a preservative.
- It does not control oil for longer than 2 hours.
- It is not waterproof and sweat proof.
For me the Lotus Herbals 3-In-1 Matte-Look Daily Sun Block worked better than the Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel. You can go for it if you are not bugged by excessive oily skin and you are going to stay indoor mostly. It actually works great as a matte makeup base for ladies with oily skin
Have you tried the Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel or any other gel sunscreen? What are the other gel sunscreen you have used so far?
